Nigerian Baptist pastors, conflicts, conflict management mechanisms, conflict resolution, social media
This article aims at exploring the conflict management mechanisms through social media that the pastors of the Nigerian Baptist Convention are using in their churches. Twenty pastors were randomly and purposively selected from the pool of Baptist church pastors in the Ibadan metropolis. Five key officers of the Nigerian Baptist Convention at the national level at its headquarters were also interacted with. Each of these pastors was orally interviewed. Some documents were used to substantiate or disprove the assertions of these pastors. It was revealed during the study that church members are faced with a lot of conflicts. It was also revealed that pastors have been unconsciously using various conflict management mechanisms to resolve these conflicts. Furthermore, the study revealed that pastors have started using social media to resolve conflicts. The study, therefore, recommends that Baptist pastors in particular and other pastors, in general, should be introduced formally to more conflict management mechanisms in order to more effectively and consciously resolve conflicts among their church members. The study also recommends that pastors should be more familiar with how to use social media to manage conflicts among their church members.

Medical Representatives (MRs), Prescribers (Doctors), Prescription behavior, Pharma CRM, NPPP, IPA, OPPI, IDMA
A major aspect of promotional strategy adopted by the Pharma firms in India, has been, personal selling through medical representatives (MRs). However from last few years particularly after the introduction of product patent regime in 2005, market scenarios started changing drastically. To add to the trouble of Pharma marketers, in a development in July 2012 the Indian Pharma companies agreed in principle to enforce a code that will restrict them from offering gifts or other SOPS to doctors. This has resulted in changes in the level, intensity and parameters of competition. MRs who earlier acted as the backbone for the Indian Pharma sector ,are finding it very hard to compete, and to make every interaction with doctors, count. Today the Pharma companies that leverage technology solutions such as ERP, CRM, mobility solutions, only have the scope of survival in future. Pharmaceutical companies are gradually realizing that they can no longer afford to be only product or market focused. They have to focus now on relationship marketing or customer relationship management (CRM) in order to gain a complete understanding of their current and potential customers. By implementing CRM, not only the efficiency of sales and marketing efforts increase, but also customer’s experience and loyalty towards the pharmaceutical company is enhanced. This research paper presents a review of some of the selected papers and analyzes the factors that influence the prescription behaviour of doctors and tries to evaluate the effects of CRM and personal selling strategies of Pharma companies on this prescription behaviour.

Industrialization brought Social Changes so sweeping they affected all aspects of human existence-where people lived, the nature of their work and interpersonal relationships. Social change, a shift in the characteristics of culture and society is such a vital part of Social life. Social Transformation is the process by which an individual alters the socially ascribed social status of their parents into a socially achieved status for themselves. However another definition refers to large scale Social Change as in Cultural Reforms or Transformation. The main objectives of this research paper are- 1) To assess that Technology especially information technology plays a vital role in social transformation. 2) To identify that they are positively related to each other. 3) to evaluate the seriousness of cyber threats.Indian country is proposed as an area of survey for conducting the study of above-mentioned objectives. Percentile, growth rate and charge are used to justify it.Most popular information technology skills at the moment are internet (Computer networking). Employee Wellbeing – Are Organizations Addressing it the Correct Way?
Chakraborty, Anamika

Employee wellbeing, stress, HR analytics
Work is a fundamental aspect of life. Employees spend much of their waking hours at work with an average of around 9 hours per day and 48 hours per week. With the amount of time the workforce spends working, it is not surprising that work relates significantly to overall well-being and life satisfaction. One key aspect of wellbeing that work affects is stress and it has several significant health-related consequences. With the high turnover in most organizations and with many organizations giving excellent employee benefits, it has become imperative to provide employees with reasons to stay. Many researchers have linked performance with wellness. Studies have indicated that there are many high levels of organizational productivity loss which are directly linked to workplace stress and a lack of employee wellness. Employees who aren’t well physically or mentally won’t be able to work to their full potential. Wellbeing affects an employee’s ability to creatively solve problems. It also influences their attitude to work, and their relationship with co-workers and it affects their health as well. It is a key issue that organizations are trying to address. Large numbers of employers have adopted workplace wellbeing strategies and are relating them to HR objectives. The focus on employee wellbeing has never been more crucial than it is today. The question is - What is the goal of wellbeing programs in organizations? How do employees perceive such programs? Is it able to address both the male and female workforce? Are the programs effective? Is it backed by data? In our study, we try to answer these questions. Our empirical study seeks to identify the stress factors for employees and assess the wellbeing programs of organizations to find out whether they are able to address the stress-inducing factors. We also try to find the scope of HR analytics in making the wellbeing programs effective, thus enhancing employee wellbeing.

TQM, Customer Needs, Customer Service, Relationship Marketing, Deming Award
One of the contributions of TQM is the consideration of customers as integral part of the business. Meanwhile, modern marketing practices call for greater focus on relationship marketing. Although research shows that TQM plays a mediating role in marketing, clear mediating role has not been established. This research tries to investigate the areas where TQM plays the mediating role in relationship marketing. To achieve this, an inductive exploratory research is done by taking 10 different companies that have applied TQM for customer service operations. The result shows that TQM is used to address different customer base needs in equal and satisfactory manner by developing appropriate strategies aligned to the different customer needs. The main mediating role played by TQM was the consideration of different customer spans in revolutionizing traditional marketing approaches to more customized and differentiated relationship marketing strategies. TQM is applied to strategically incorporate different customer needs into one marketing spectrum by strategizing the relationship marketing platform.

Female Entrepreneurship, Women’s Marginalization, Gender Inequality, Empowering
The objectives of the study were to identify socio-economic characteristics of female entrepreneurs in Zimbabwe and to ascertain the relationship between women empowerment in entrepreneurship and economic/social development. The research looked at economic and social independent variables that affect women empowerment in entrepreneurship. Literature covered but not limited to, power in households, decision making, ownership of property, access to capital, networking and freedom of movement. This study adopted a mixed research methodology that combined the positivism and the interpretivism paradigms. With regard to this study, the target population was the female entrepreneurs in Harare, Zimbabwe. Non-probability was chosen as the sampling technique for this study because it is quicker, easier and cheaper. Convenience and judgmental sampling techniques shall were employed. The questionnaire was used to collect primary data for this study. The study revealed that married female entrepreneurs continue to be absent from the household decision-making that shapes the allocation of the economic and financial resources, which further perpetuates gender inequality. The study also confirmed that education and training as well as previous work experience are important success characteristics for empowerment, required by emerging female entrepreneurs as they start and grow their business. The study also confirmed that the lack of access to capital exacerbated by lack of collateral and high interest rates is one of the major deterrents for empowering women through entrepreneurship. Recommendations include coalition among female entrepreneurs, mentoring schemes and changing entrenched patriarchal cultural norms.

Doubling the Agricultural Income by 2022 in India: Issues and Challenges - Evidence From Andhra Pradesh
Pasala, Srinivasa Rao

Cost A, Cost B, Cost C, MSP, Gross Income, Farm Investment Income, and ZBNF
The mechanism of reforms is not given enough government funding and financial assistance to the agriculture sector. This impacted the conditions of cultivation, particularly in rural living conditions. The impact of free trade brought unstable prices, difficulties in agriculture export and import and which is affected farmer’s welfare, livelihood, and other employment alternatives. The most adverse effect that has become a curse to farmers is the multiple of low price and instability in the output of cash crops. Andhra Pradesh mostly depends on rainfall agriculture. Monsoon and seasonal conditions play a crucial role in Andhra Pradesh agriculture. The proportion of area under agriculture is 37.30 percent (including fish ponds). The gross irrigated area (35.81 lakh hectares) is 48.29 percent of gross area sown (74.18 lakh hectare.) in the state. The ratio of gross irrigated area to net irrigated area is 1.32 in 2016-17, where it was 1.29 in 2015-16. (Agricultural Statistics at a Glance 2016-17). An attempt is made to study in depth the evolution of cost conditions in the rainfed and irrigated land agricultural practices, regarding the sustainability of livelihood practices. Both quantitative and qualitative methods of research were applied in the study through a collection of data by household survey and in-depth interviews, site visits, and field observations. For an understanding of costs and returns, calculate Cost A, Cost B and Cost C and Gross, Farm Business, Family Labour, Net, Farm Investment Incomes. The policymakers should focus on strict implement National Commission on farmer’s recommendations of increasing MSP should be at least 50 percent more than the weighted average cost of production, introduce availability of the leased technology (i.e. crop sowing and cutting machines etc.) to marginal and small farmers, reduce the inequalities between villages and towns and promote Zero Budget Natural Farming across the country.

Khap Panchayat is most thirsted area not only for social scientists but most disputed and controversial issue for media persons, social workers and political activists. Our Honorable Supreme Court has made some harsh and strict comments on these Khap Panchayats. Khap Panchayats may be wrong in their functioning and activities in present time but at the time of their origin and in medieval period they did perform a number of social, political, administrative and judiciary functions. They fought against invaders, provided external and internal security to the community. The volunteers of these Khap Panchayats participated in many wars and battles of national interest. These were the by-product of an egalitarian community and were based on the principles of democracy and their functioning was democratic. Most of the decisions were taken in open meetings of Khap Panchayats or Sarva Khap. There was a community democracy during the medieval period before the modern democracy, and this democracy worked for hundreds of year.

Service Quality has been the focus of many studies in recent years. Previous studies mostly revealed that excellence in services is mostly based on the outcome measurements, and no linkage between internal processes. Based on the literature review and the limitation of applied model in this research (EFQM and SERVQUAL), this study offered an opportunity to investigate the internal elements of excellence. In addition, this study measured the impact of internal excellence elements on patients side externally. This empirical research sought to investigate the Critical Excellence Factors (CEFs) that drive Excellence in selected hospitals in Pune. It measured patients’ perception for service quality and it’s relation to internal recognized CEFs.The study combines the EFQM excellence model as an internal assessment tool, with the SERVQUAL gap model for external assessment instrument. Analyzing and contrasting the two sets of results allowed the authors to suggest an integrated model which will help to improve driving excellence in healthcare organizations.

The primary objective of this research is to determine the impact of actuarial assumptions for work liability valuations in Venezuela. The time frame of interest to the study finds that Venezuela has and continues to experience an extremely volatile rate of inflation. In such an environment, it is imperative that the discount rate be set as a function of the inflation rate plus a premium. This study is focused on the challenges of adopting such a policy given the absence of a well-developed capital market.

IPPB; M-Banking; Payment banks; PMJDY; RBI
Opening of new branch in every village is uneconomical for any traditional bank. Transactions through mobile phones may cover a low cost platform for basic banking services to every rural or urban citizen. India’s domestic remittance market is more than Rs. 900 Billions. The payment banks play a vital role in implementing the government’s direct benefit transfer scheme, where subsidies on healthcare, education and gas are paid directly to beneficiaries’ accounts. Keeping in mind the government's unwavered digital drive target, customers shifting from cash transactions to operating their accounts on their mobile phone, this paper discusses the objectives of primary banks, its history and services rendered by it. This paper also focuses on m-Banking, the Department of Posts, Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana and the India Post Payments Banks.

Key indicators of HMIS. Health indicators in Haryana, RAMNCHA+ Approach
Reducing maternal and child mortality is the most important goal of the National Rural Health Mission. Indian government has worked towards its commitment to achieve the Millennium Development Goals. Huge investments are being made by Government of India to achieve these goals. A well framed roadmap is being developed for accelerating child survival and improving maternal health and 16 indicators is selected for this purpose. The improvement in these indicators shows the way towards the achievement of MDGs. India has made considerable progress over the last few years since NRHM in the area of maternal and child health, which was further accelerated after introduction of RMNCHA+ () strategy which appropriately directs the states to focus their efforts on the most vulnerable and disadvantaged sections of the society in the country. Main focus is healthy mothers and child. It also emphasizes on the need to reinforce efforts in those poor performing districts that have already been identified as the high focus districts. ‘Continuum care’ is required to have equal focus on various life stages. Improvement in these indicators provide an understanding the importance of ‘continuum of care’ to ensure equal focus on various life stages. Some low performing districts had shown an improvement over period of time in its RMNCHA+ indicators.

Gender aspirations towards employer branding
Arya, Meena
Business Management
Gender studies, corporate branding, employee-employer relationships, HRM
Ladies make a huge piece of present day associations. Their center has moved from conventional, regular and female-arranged occupation parts to general or purported 'male-situated' employment parts. Their support in the workforce can't be overlooked. Maybe young ladies are surpassing men in all parts of business. In any case, men and ladies, in spite of getting comparable training, working in same parts and setting practically the same significance on their vocations, have distinctive yearnings and objectives. Not on the grounds that one is better than the other, but rather in light of the fact that they are totally not the same as each other, they have diverse profession objectives.

Implied volatility, India VIX, Investor fear gauge, Volatility forecasting
Stock market volatility is a measure of risk in investment and it plays a key role in securities pricing and risk management. The paper empirically analyzes the relationship between India VIX and volatility in Indian stock market. India VIX is a measure of implied volatility which reflects markets’ expectation of future short-term stock market volatility. It is a volatility index based on the index option prices of Nifty. The study is based on time series data comprising of daily closing values of CNX Nifty 50 index comprising of 1656 observations from March 2009 to December 2015. The results of the study reveal that India VIX has predictive power for future short-term stock market volatility. It has higher forecasting ability for upward stock market movements as compared to downward movements. Therefore, it is more a bullish indicator. Moreover, the accuracy of forecasts provided by India VIX is higher for low magnitude future price changes relative to higher stock price movements. The current value of India VIX is found to be affected by past period volatility up to one month and it has forecasting ability for next one-month’s volatility which means the volatility in the Indian stock markets can be forecasted for up to 60 days period.

Management
Consumers, Marketing channels, Producers
The present study is carried out with the objective of studying the marketing channels because farmers producing agricultural produce are scattered in remote villages while consumers are in semi-urban and urban areas. This produce has to reach consumers for its final use and consumption. There are different agencies and functionaries through which produce passes and reach the consumer. Therefore, it is important to study the various functionaries involved in the marketing of cotton crop. Besides, it is important to analyze the costs associated with the services rendered by the market functionaries, marketing margins and price spreads in the marketing of cotton. Such studies are useful for both the producers/sellers and the buyers/consumers because the former are interested in getting the highest price for their produce while the latter are interested in paying as low a price as possible. The present research paper provides some guidelines to the policy makers about the need of efficient marketing system.

Agricultural Exports, Economic Growth, GMM
The purpose of this article is to analyze the impact of agricultural exports such as coffee, cotton and cocoa on economic growth in Cameroon. The main results obtained by the Generalized Moments Method show that the impact of cocoa and coffee exports is negative and that of cotton on economic growth is positive. The export of cocoa, the exchange rate and the stability of agricultural exports are respectively significant. To this end, farmers should be encouraged to form more cooperatives in order to have easy access to finance which permit to increase their production, the government should fund research activities to improve the quality of agricultural products sold abroad in order to be more competitive and finally to promote the strategy of diversification of export products.

Cockroach Theory of Organizational Sustainability and Scalability - Detailed Study on Evidence Based on BOP Approach
Raj, Keerthan
Aithal, P. S.
Business Management
Bottom of the pyramid (BOP), Survival, Sustenance, Cockroach theory
The question of survival and sustenance are at the very foundation of every individual or organization. There are various factors that are essential for growth and sustenance of companies. There has been many research studies undertaken to gauge the success factors or to breakdown the components and study success in detail. Especially so, it gains even more importance when companies are serving the markets where consumers have very low incomes and have several unmet needs. Companies serving the base of the pyramid markets need relatively unique strategies and value propositions for success. The base of pyramid came into forefront when management thinkers C K Prahalad and Staurt L. Hart, formulated the “Bottom of the Pyramid” theory in a 2002 article about how businesses can help the poor while still able to make a profit. They noted that there was little competition among the millions of the poor, who essentially live in a world of non consumption. Through low prices, new business models and innovative products, and inclusive value creation corporations along with the help of nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and local governments, could make money and do good for the larger cause by tapping this underserved market. It has been the belief of many that BOP consumers are typically characterized by several unmet needs, it could range from food, sanitation, transport, communication, and connectivity. It is also interesting to note that in several BOP markets where are overlapping needs not necessarily following the need hierarchy. Information and communication technology businesses have been able to occupy a larger share of the BOP consumer’s wallet than even basic needs such as sanitation or electricity. What then prompts these consumers and how can businesses reach out to these segments in a phased successful manner. This paper develops the concept, postulates, explanations, theoretical model, and business case based proof on Cockroach Theory of Organizational sustainability and scalability by considering BOP business companies performance evidence. The study also discusses the applicability of this theory and its frameworks on companies and their business models focusing on BOP sectors along with the limitations.

Beggars are an inescapable part of our society and one has to deal with this reality. Begging is a global phenomenon and not found in our society alone but rather it is found everywhere, in both developed and developing countries. A large proportion of beggars are the people who are unable to get on with life in a normal passion because of poverty, disability or other reasons. They can find no way out but to live on alms of others at the expanse of their dignity. The study throws lights on the socio-economic conditions of beggars; to find out the causes and factors that lead to their begging life; to identify the problems faced by the beggars while they beg and to give remedial measures for improving their socio-economic condition. Data was collected from 51 beggars by adopting purposive sampling method during May to June 2015 and techniques like Chi-square test; Garrett’s rating scale; Likert’s summated scale and Factor analysis were used. The study revealed that the main cause for begging was illiteracy, no source of food and illness and also they faced problems like harassment from municipal officers and police, fellow beggars, sexual abuse and health hazards. The study concludes that as they are also humans who have the right to live with dignity and respect, help them to get job in productive works according to their potentialities and skill rather than giving them kind and cash to get rid of them.

Accelerator and Multiplier for Macroeconomic Processes with Memory

The paper proposes an approach to the description of macroeconomic phenomena, which takes into account the effects of fading memory. The standard notions of the accelerator and the multiplier are very limited, since the memory of economic agents is neglected. We consider the methods to describe the economic processes with memory, which is characterized by the fading of a power-law type. Using the mathematical tools of derivatives and integrals of non-integer orders, we suggest a generalization of the concept of the accelerator and multiplier. We derive the equations of the accelerator with memory and the multiplier with memory, which take into account the changes of endogenous and exogenous variables on a finite time interval. We prove the duality of the concepts of the multiplier with memory and the accelerator with memory. The proposed generalization includes the standard concepts of the accelerator and the multiplier as special cases. In addition these generalizations provide a range of intermediate characteristics to take into account the memory effects in macroeconomic models.

How incorporating open source projects makes business sense- A business model study

In business, venture expects an arrival. All in all, what's the arrival on financing open source programming? It's not generally clear to individuals why organizations like Divio—organizations that need to make a benefit—would need to give to open source groups and extends. Giving cash away isn't precisely the first thing one would put on a strategy for success. For our situation, we support various undertakings with progressing normal commitments, including the Django Fellowship program, Read the Docs, and Django Girls. We additionally support well over twelve open source gatherings every year, from expansive, built up occasions, for example, PyCon U.S. what's more, DjangoCon (Europe and U.S.) to little, incipient ones, for example, Django Weekend and Python Namibia.

economic growth ; emerging economies; CEMAC; panel data; fixed effects model; random effects model; OLS; GMM
This article highlights through a panel data approach the determinants of economic growth; observed over the last decade in the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) and necessary to reach emerging economies stage. To do this, we essentially used Stata 12 software to come up with the results, and a panel data sample comprising six CEMAC member states, namely Congo, Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Central African Republic and Chad, for the period ranging from 2000 to 2013. The results obtained after estimating ordinary least squares, fixed effects model, random effects model, generalized method of moments (GMM) and specification tests show that the best model to estimate these types of data is the fixed effects model. Besides, the main determinants of economic growth in CEMAC over that period are Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and loans lending to the economy (LOAN). After estimation, FDI is found positive and significant on economic growth, while LOAN is significant and found negative maybe due to lack of good governance.

The Question of British Southern Cameroons’ Autonomy in the Evolution of Nigeria Federation, 1945-1961
Adig, Mathias Azang
Social Sciences
Colonial administration, Southern Cameroons, Nigeria federation, Autonomy
The connection of Southern Cameroons to the Nigerian Federation by Britain after the First World War, worked to the disadvantage of Southern Cameroons’ sovereignty and political ambitions. With her international status as a Trust Territory, Southern Cameroons was marginalized by the colonial administration which failed to recognize her as a separate territory within the Nigerian Federation. Under such dispensation, Southern Cameroonians felt that for such a Nigerian connection to be of any benefit to the territory, it should be granted an autonomous regional status in line with the existing regions in Nigeria. This strain of relations caused Cameroonians to animate Nigeria political scene with series of events which became very instrumental in influencing the direction and nature of the evolution of the Nigerian federation. This feud for regional autonomy which dominated Nigerian politics was undertaken by pressures groups, political parties, and at individual levels through vocal voices, petitions, conferences and walkouts which expressed their grievances. The paper argues that the granting of quasi and full regional status in 1954 and 1959 respectively to Southern Cameroons was a consequence of their demonstrations. On this score Nigeria rose from three to four regions under colonial rule. From this paradigm we conclude that the history of the evolution of Nigerian federation can never be complete without the Southern Cameroons factor. Archival data and analyses of existing literature have provided evidence for this conclusion.

Mutual dependency of market variables is crucial for development of any economy. It is equally important to study the stock market for what parameter influences over the others and for what length of time, thus giving direction to investors. Further, Sensex being an important barometer of India’s economic measurement, it would be interesting to know the revelation of its stability while institutional investors influence it in multiple ways over considerable longer period of economy. This study investigates the influence of FII and MF on Sensex over 11 year period between 2004-2015. The objectives were to find out the dependency among the three to conclude about which out theses influences market the most. On applying Unit–root test, Correlation and VAR, the study revealed that there was a regime change for BSE-Sensex returns due to the global recession. The noticeable fact is that change in regime affected the purchase of Mutual Fund which led to increasing in FII investment. The variation in the investment patterns by institutions brought in heavy market movement. Indian stock market during the selected period was driven by a greater amount of Foreign Investors compared to the domestic investors, the Mutual Fund taken up for this study.

Adolescents, Adjustment, Gender, Religion
Adjustment of adolescents in relation to their gender and religion was investigated. Gender (Male and Female) and religion (Hindu and Muslim) were treated as independent variables whereas adjustment was treated as a dependent variable. The sample comprised of 282 high school students (from class IX and X) of state Government schools of Guwahati city that belonged to lower middle-income group. The multi-stage sampling method was used for selecting the sample. Upadhyay-Saxena Socio-Economic Status (USSES) Scale, Adjustment Inventory for School Students (AISS) and Personal Information Data sheet were administered to all the participants. Mean, Standard Deviation and ANOVA were calculated to analyze the responses. The findings of the study revealed that females are better adjusted in the areas of emotional adjustment, educational adjustment and also in terms of total adjustment in comparison to males, which implies gender has a significant effect in the area of emotional adjustment, educational adjustment and also in the total adjustment of the adolescents. But no significant difference was found in the area of social adjustment between male and female adolescents. Further, it was found that religion has no significant effect on the adjustment among adolescents, which means that there is no significant difference in the adjustment of Hindu and Muslim adolescents of Guwahati city.

The study was conducted in Haryana and Rajasthan states covering a sample of 200 respondents (100 male and female each) from two villages and two slum areas of each state. Print (VCD) as well as electronic media (Booklet) was developed, standardized and exposed to the selected respondents on five risk oriented habits viz; use of tobacco; drinking alcohol; and poor environmental, eating and personal habits. There was significant gain in knowledge about health hazards due to all the five risk oriented habits. The gain in knowledge about persuasive messages on consumption of tobacco was highest followed by use of alcohol, poor personal, environmental and eating habits. Direct impact of persuasive messages was perceived in term of ease in understanding and following which would help the respondents in dealing with the related problems immediately. Indirect impact of intervention programme was perceived in terms of changes in the habits in the coming time as it has improved consciousness, confidence and motivation to deal with the risk oriented habits.

Determinants of Maternal Health Care Utilization among Ever-Married Rabari Women of Udaipur District, Rajasthan
Sharma, Ayushi

Maternal health, antenatal care (ANC), post natal care (PNC), IFA (Iron and Folic Acid), Tetanus Toxoid (TT), Birth control measures (BCM)
Background: Improving maternal health is one of the eight Millennium Development Goals. It is widely accepted that the use of maternal health services helps in reducing maternal morbidity and mortality. The utilization of maternal health services is a complex phenomenon and it is influenced by several factors. Therefore, the factors at different levels affecting the use of these services need to be clearly understood. The objective of this study was to estimate the effects of individual, community and district level characteristics on the utilization of maternal health services with special reference to antenatal care (ANC), skilled attendance at delivery and postnatal care (PNC)Methods: The present paper focuses in understanding the maternal health care utilization by the ever married Rabari women of Udaipur District, Rajasthan. A purposive random sampling method was used to collect data from 122 ever married women of age group 15-49 years by using pretested and modified demographic schedule. Results: The results of this study showed that 63.11% of the respondents used ANC during their most recent pregnancy whereas only 10.65% women received PNC within two weeks of delivery. In the last delivery, 36.06% mothers were assisted by doctors and 50.81% assisted by nurse. Regarding components of ANC utilization 85.24% women reported intake of IFA (Iron and Folic Acid) tablets during pregnancy, while 77.04% of the women received Tetanus Toxoid (TT) Injection. The study reflects that higher utilization of ANC services are there and PNC services are mostly neglected among the women. The study also reflected upon the use of Birth Control Measures (BCM) among the woman. The lesser number of sample size may bind us from recommending much. But, Mothers should be motivated continuously and with every generation of nation they give birth to, they should utilize such health services for the future of the healthy society.

The study investigates the financial market’s response during the period of last nine months starting from the day when first COVID-19 case was confirmed in India. This paper attempts to gauge the impact of rise in COVID-19 confirmed number of cases on stock market as well as commodities market returns. A multi-model approach is used in the current research to assess the relationship between daily number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 and movement of asset returns from January 2020 to September 2020. The findings reveal that though financial markets exhibited asymmetric volatility clustering, it could not be traced to COVID-19 pandemic for the period under study in India.

India’s family planning programs have historically focused on limiting the number of children but in recent years focus has shifted from limiting births to increased spacing between children, especially among young couples on contraceptive acceptance in the post-partum period. This paper examines the behavior of couples in India on acceptance of contraceptives during the postpartum period by using data from the National Family Health Survey-3 (NFHS-3, 2005-06) and from a small scale survey in state of Chhattisgarh in India. According to the data, approximately 75 percent of women with children under a year and 83 percent of women with children under six months’ old reported not using any contraception. Only 0.9 percent of postpartum women reported acceptance of intrauterine contraceptive devices. The primary reasons cited for not using contraception were breast feeding (27.5 percent) and postpartum amenorrhea (16.9 percent). Education and wealth index and program factor specially interaction with health workers during post-partum period and institutional delivery had a significant effect on acceptance of contraceptives during the postpartum period. Achieving one’s desired family size also positively influenced women’s acceptance of family size soon after delivery. Small scale survey in Chhattisgarh also suggested that acceptance of family planning to space children is not high.

Corporate Governance Practices of Family Enterprises: A Study on Some Selected Indian Family Governed Companies
Majumder, Amit
Business Policy
Family Enterprises; Family Governance
Corporate governance implies how an organization is directed and controlled under a set of mission, values, and philosophy (Cadbury, 1992). But unfortunately, over time, the common investors all over the globe have suffered a lot in the hands of the greedy managers and scams like Enron, Adelphia, Tyco, Worldcom, Xerox, Paramalt, and Satyam have shattered the trust in the very mechanism of corporate management and governance. However, despite a lot of initiatives had been taken around the world in the form of codes/laws for ensuring good governance for corporate sector, the issue of governance practices of family enterprises operating in India had not been discussed in detail. But, in view of the contribution of the family enterprises to Indian Economy over the years, a renewed interest on their governance mechanism is the need of the hour. Starting from Tata to Birla, Ambani, Goenka, Ruia, Mittal etc. Corporate India had a long heritage of domination of family governed firms. They contribute significantly towards economic growth of the country, employment generation, boosting up Gross Domestic Production as well as accumulation of foreign reserve through growth in export and also engaged into cross border Merger and Amalgamations. However, time and again the issues of governance and succession policy had perturbed the smooth sailings of these family governed firms in India. Recent examples like clash between Ambani brothers, inheritance issues in Birla clan proved that case. Against this backdrop the present study is a humble attempt to enquire the state of affairs of corporate governance in major family governed firms in India.

Influence of Firm Size on Performance of Deposit Taking Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies in Nairobi County, Kenya

Economics
Firm Size, Performance, Deposit-Taking Saccos (DTSs)
The Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies (Saccos) in Kenya have made a tremendous contribution to national development which is responsible for about 45% of Gross Domestic Product and 31% of national savings and deposits. Deposit Taking Saccos (DTSs) have enabled cooperative societies to diversify their products and services in a highly competitive market. Those who patronize the services of DTSs have options of accessing similar services from other service providers like commercial banks and non-banking financial institutions that may enjoy economies of scale due to their size. However, some of the DTSs may be small in size which makes it difficult for them to leverage on size for wider coverage of their catchment market. Guided by Human Capital Theory (HCT) and the Resource-Based View (RBV) as the theoretical framework. The purpose of this study was to examine firm size as an important influencing factor on organization performance. The study adopted a descriptive design. The study was a census of the 42 DTSs operating in Nairobi County, Kenya. The target respondents were Chief Executive Officers and Human Resource Managers in the DTSs. Data was collected from 39 respondents using a questionnaire that was tested for reliability and validity. Data was analyzed using descriptive and statistical techniques. Cross-tabulation of the number of employees and organizational performance was done. Chi-square tests were also conducted. The findings of the study indicate that the DTSs with the highest number of employees performed higher than those with fewer employees. These findings suggest that organizations should pay more attention to firm size and leverage on the optimum size for competitiveness in the market.

Capital Market; Efficiency level; Nigerian Stock Exchange; random walk
This study tests the random walk theory in the Nigerian stock market by analyzing whether stock returns follow a random walk distribution. The study employs the daily returns of the Top 20 most performing stocks on the NSE for the period January 1st 2010 to December 31st 2014. Autocorrelation and runs test were employed for hypothesis testing. Based on our analysis, we found that the daily stock returns of the 20 most active stocks on the Nigerian stock market are randomly distributed indicating that Nigerian Stock market is informational efficient at the weak form level. The implication of the finding is that no one can fool the market consistently for a long time by trading on the basis of past information such as historical stock prices. The study recommends that more efforts should be made to reposition the market to attract more investible funds from domestic and foreign investors.

This study analyses that the SHGs have expanded avenues for tribal women to improve their socio-demographic and economic conditions by way of adoption of family planning methods and have awareness about promoting their health and literacy levels. On the whole, it is clear that the tribal women are able to improve control over their freedom to move and interact, leadership, and reproductive choices, to some extent. Thus there is improvement with regard to social empowerment. But, there is no improvement in power with the dimension of social empowerment. On the whole, it is clear that tribal women are able to improve control over their labour, resources, savings, credit and income and freedom to move and interact. Thus there is improvement with regard to economic power to the dimension of empowerment. However, the positive impact on their economic and living conditions is not much found in the interior hill tract villages and found in a relatively better position in the roadside villages in plain areas. From the major findings of the study, it is revealed that tribal women are able to improve control over their labour, resources, savings, credit and income, freedom to move and interact leadership, and reproductive choices. SHG approaches are influencing economic, social, and political and eventually empower the poor tribal women. The SHG activities are positively helping the poor tribal women for their comprehensive development.

The Law Related to Consumer Protection in India: Issues and Redressal Mechanism
Kulshrestha, Sony

Consumer, Redressal, Forum, Goods, Services and Deficiency
Who is a consumer, always creates a new debate? A person who avails/consumes the services in exchange of the consideration is a consumer according to the given definition of consumer under Consumer Protection Act, 1986. This definition never includes any commercial activities or any re-sale or without fee transaction. We on daily basis face various MRP related issues, poor quality of products, adulteration, no bill issues and many more. Some of us raise a voice against these unfair practices but number of us always keep silence and take everything so easy. The reason behind this may be nobody has time or knowledge, when and where to proceed. The right of consumer protection only needs the awareness; awareness about the provisions, process, forums and a fair counselling. Though government has initiated number of awareness schemes which includes the advertisements on television, newspapers and in magazines, skits, workshops and various poster making competitions, still the consumer exploitation continues. In this research paper by using an empirical and doctrinal technique of research the researcher wants to highlight the area where the law is lacking its enforcement to protect the interest of the consumer. The researcher also draws an attention about consumer rights, various grievance redressal agencies, who and how can file a complaint, the jurisdiction and the format of filing a complaint.

co movement, correlation, portfolio, return, risk.
The risk of a portfolio depends on the co- movement between the security returns forming the portfolio. The coefficient of correlation is an important measure for studying co movement between securities. Banking and IT company’s shares represent sizable share of market portfolio of common investors. In this perspective the present study has been undertaken to help small retail investors who commonly invest in these two major sectors to understand the co movement of returns among Banking and IT industry stocks. This study covers correlation co movement calculation between selected four Banking shares and four IT companies’ shares for a period from 16th June 2014 to 15th June 2015. The correlation between banking shares are more positive compared to correlation between IT company shares. This implies that the banking stocks return more or less move in the same direction. The correlation between Banking and IT Company stocks are either zero or negative which implies that these two sectors shares are not related or move in the opposite direction in terms of return. This implies that banking and IT industry shares are good combinations for portfolio construction which substantially reduces the risk of that particular portfolio.

The ‘Privacy Paradox’ Investigation among the African American College Students: Privacy Concerns and Self-Disclosure on the Social Network Sites

Social Network Site (SNS), Privacy Paradox, Privacy risk, Privacy concern, Self-Disclosure, African American College Students, Gender
This article examines the current status of privacy risk concern on Social Network Sites (SNS) among African American college students in a HBCU college in the United States. It also investigates the gender difference on this issue. The research focuses on the ‘privacy paradox’ phenomenon on SNS, in other words, how SNS users’ privacy risk concern associates with their self-disclosure activity. The research findings are interesting and confirm the ‘privacy paradox’ phenomenon among the less studied African American college student community. The results show although the participants of the study fear something unpleasant can happen to them due to their presence on SNS and realize it is risky to publish their personal information on SNS, they still do some self-disclosure activities such as post photos and status. When they see the threat to their privacy due to their presence on SNS, they still post their status and videos on SNS. When they feel unsafe to publish their personal information on SNS, they still post photos and videos on SNS. Gender only significantly affect the post photo self-disclosure activity on SNS. The research contributes to the academia by investigating privacy concerns on the rarely studied minority community i.e., African American college student body. The study can provide tips for the privacy policy practitioners when they make or modify their privacy policies.

Netflix has been on the rise since its beginning in 1997, when one sees it from a distant perspective. However, a close analysis of its unique strategies shows that the company faced several small and big challenges in its growth journey, some of which, had the potential to throw the company away permanently from the market itself. Nevertheless, it responded tactically to all such issues, many of them being dealt in preventive and pro-active manner; while other cases being dealt with quick reactions, essentially faster than any other competitors. This report is a study of many such issues that the company faced, since its beginning till recently, when it almost conquered the whole world, after establishing its feet in China as well, in collaboration with the service provider Baidu. The report also entails some unique strategies that the company followed while continuously and marginally changing its business model, which would seldom be possible in a brick-mortar economy. As such, the company made use of its deeper understanding of how markets react in an internet economy. Effort has been made to throw some light on the way the company has dealt the issues of digital discrimination allegations against it, and also its stance on net neutrality. Finally, some of the challenges and opportunities that the company has encountered recently, including the lawsuits has been touched upon, presenting the company’s as well as outsider media’s view on those, and has been concluded with potential problems and future aspects

Protection of Children from Offences of Sexual Assault, Sexual Harassment and Pornography: A Law Enforcement View and Review
Rao, Vasuda
Social Sciences
Sexual Assault, Sexual Harassment, Children Protection Law
‘Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim’ is a famous quote of the Nobel laureate Elie Wisel. Although children have been maltreated in the course of our entire history, since they have no knowledge of the wrong and the right, hence ‘interest theory’ of jurisprudence remains true.[1] Child abuse and neglect are serious global issues and can be physical, sexual or psychological. Many research studies have shown that children under the age group of 5-12 are at a higher risk of suffering from child abuse and neglect. The statistical analysis says that 40 million children become victims of child abuse all over the globe and 1,850 die due to extensive abuse and lack of affection and attention. An attempt has been made to differentiate the types of abuses and neglect, the signs and symptoms, the impact of the trauma on the well-being of the child. Drawing inferences from previous research works on the global issues, the paper has been prepared on the national context as the child sexual abuse is an under-reported offence in India. The study conducted by the Government of India in 2015 estimates the burden of sexual abuse which revealed shocking results and showed that every second child in the country was abused; among them, 52.94 per cent were boys and 47.06 per cent were girls. Highest sexual abuse was reported in Assam (52.27%) followed by Delhi (41%), Andhra Pradesh (33.87%) and Bihar (33.27%).[2] There is a causal connection between child abuse and pornography; specifically child pornography depraves and corrupts the young minds which pose more danger to the child abuse. However, arguments frequently presented to defend pornography; such dichotomy stands between law and morality. The research paper tries to review the above issues focusing on recent legislations and views of policy makers in this regard.[1]Padmaja K., Child Interests- Socio Legal Perspectives, A Amicus books, First Edi., The ICFAI University Press, 2007, pp. 4-27[2] Tamuli RP Paul B Mahanta P. Backwardness, Balanced regional development, Gross State Domestic Product, Index of relative economic growth, Regional disparity
Regional disparity is a crucial problem. It has attained so much of concern from classical economists to recent development researchers and that has been creating more dilemmas among the planners to make plan for reducing the imbalances. Hitherto in India most of the studies have been identified the backwardness across the nations as well as states by different development index analysis and these studies were more ideal in the sense of disparity and they are found to be giving no clear picture about regional disparities and were not comprehensive in nature but only isolated manner. Within this premises, this paper tries to make an attempt to analyze the trend in regional economic disparities in economic growth of Southern states in India during the post reform period from 1991-92 to 2011-12 by measure of Hauser’s Index of relative economic growth.

Background: Literature states that Depression and anxiety symptoms carry impairment to medical students, including poor academic performance, drop out, substance abuse and suicide. A high prevalence of anxiety and depression among medical students has been reported worldwide. Higher prevalence is noticed among female students.Aim/Objectives: To study rates of anxiety and depressive symptoms among female undergraduate medical students. Methods: The present study is a cross-sectional study. The purposive sampling method was used. Duration of study was 6 months. A total number of participants’ were 100. Self-developed questionnaire and Hospital Anxiety and Depression scale were used. Results: Findings showed that the mean score of anxiety symptoms was 8.08 (SD± 4.07). Similarly, the mean score of Depressive symptoms was 4.99(SD± 3.28). Fifty-two per cent of the students rated anxiety symptoms and 25% of the student rated depressive symptoms between borderline to the abnormal range. Total 9% of the students reported that they have a family history of mental illness among which 8% reported borderline to an abnormal range of anxiety however 52 % who had no family history also scored the same range. Similarly, 17% of the students reported there were life events which were stressful among which 13% scored borderline to abnormal range anxiety symptoms. Likewise, only 5% of the students scored borderline to the abnormal range of depressive symptoms. Conclusion: It was observed that female undergraduate medical students experience both anxiety and depressive symptoms however the percentage of depressive symptoms were less compared to anxiety symptoms. Further studies are required to evaluate the associated factors responsible for depressive and anxiety symptoms.

Volunteer motivation, Community based, Palliative Care
Countries like India where there is a greater burden on public health care system, due to high population rates, have highest potential to use volunteering as an alternative to increasing human resource demand. Community based palliative care model is one of the successful models of extending health care services which necessarily involves the work of volunteers in a community. This model has been very successful in the Indian state of Kerala. The aim of the study was to identify the factors which actively motivate and sustain the work of volunteers in community based palliative care. Case study research design was employed in this study. The current study identifies altruism, spirituality, personal experiences and better social relationships as the prime motivations of volunteers in community based palliative care. Identification of volunteer motivations would better help in devising sustainable participatory health care programmes.

The Impact of Interpersonal Trust on Group Cohesion: An empirical attestation among Scientists in R&D organizations

Behavioral Management Studies
Interpersonal Trust, Group Cohesion, Scientists,Research &Development organisations
Trust is the degree of confidence the individual partners have in the reliability and integrity of each other and lack of it can undermine almost any other developmental effort .In today’s world of uncertainty , interpersonal trust is an imperative concept which has to be probed inorder to reap its benefits. Interpersonal trust implicitly means that the probability that one party will perform an action that is beneficial or atleast not detrimental to us is high enough for us to consider engaging in some form of cooperation with the party. Trust is both the specific expectation that another’s action will be beneficial rather than detrimental and the generalized ability to take for granted, to take under trust, a vast array of features of the social order. The second concept discussed in this paper is group cohesion. Group cohesion refers to the member’s attraction to the group. It is the total field of forces which act on members to remain in the group and my research on the concept illuminate this verity. This study is based on primary data collected from 172 scientists working in a nationalized Research and Development organization in central Kerala .The survey conducted during the last quarter of 2015, is expected to enlighten the linkage between interpersonal trust as the predictor and group cohesion as the outcome. The realistic and the pragmatic findings outlined in this paper can be guidelines to harness, employee’s trust in turn strengthening the group leading to better response, energy and enterprise.

Aging in India- The Role of State in Health care
Verma, Monica
Social Sciences
Demographic dividend, aging population, Life Expectancy at Birth, Infant Mortality Rate, Crude Birth/ Death rate
The world is amidst of an epochal demographic shift that will reshape societies, economies, and markets throughout the next century. The world population, as per United Nations forecasts, will either stabilize/ balance or peak around 2050, after growing for centuries at an ever-accelerating rate. The fundamental reason is the decline occurring in birth rates as nations advance economically. As birth rates drop and better health care services delay life traverses ( prolongs life span), the world’s population is aging rapidly. However the demographic dynamics in the developing world including India are radically different. Birth rates are still high, and populations are both growing and getting younger. Throughout the following couple of decades, a considerable lot of these nations including India are prone to experience what David Bloom, chair of the department of global health and population at Harvard's School of Public Health, has called a "demographic profit" a rising Proportion of youngsters entering the workforce, driving efficiency and economic development. But our aging population is anticipated to increase fourfold in next decade and this is a growing concern for India. The share of India’s population ages 60 and older is anticipated to move from 8 percent in 2010 to 19 percent in 2050, as indicated by the United Nations Population Division (UN 2011. By mid-century, India’s 60 and older population is expected to encompass 323 million individuals, a number more noteworthy than the aggregate U.S. populace in 2012. This profound shift in the share of older Indians— occurring with regards to changing family connections and severely limited old-age income support— brings with it an assortment of social, economic, and medicinal services approach challenges. This paper proposes to contemplate the probable impact of the aging population in India, the challenges to be met and the opportunities to be exploited by investigating demographic, social and economic trends and aspects of aging in India, and advocate the necessity of policy initiatives for the care of older persons in India in terms of their wellbeing needs and budgetary security as it would be obligation of the state to provide, address the need of general population in the nation irrespective of age, standing, caste, sexual orientation and so forth.

The Concepts of Home and Exile in The Mimic Men, a Novel by V.S. Naipaul
Dizayi, Saman Abdulqadir Hussein
Social Sciences
Post colonialism, Identity, Exile
The aim of this research is to analyze the presence of the concepts of “Exile and Home” in raising the identity crisis in V. S. Naipaul’s novel The Mimic Men (1967). It examines Edward Said’s theoretic contention of exile’s influence in creating identity crisis and in the view of Naipaul’s writing as an attempt to resolve the dilemma of the protagonist Ralph Singh’s identity. The chapter shows Ralph’s responses in endeavoring to form an individual identity while struggling from the burdens of colonial heritage. It is an irony or quiet paradox to apply, as this dissertation does, postcolonial theory to the postcolonial novels, or those novels depicting ex-colonial subject resistance to colonial traditions while living in the very heart of the colonial center, i.e., London; nevertheless, such an application reveals the conflicting sides of the characters’ identity, which has grown in part from attempting to fit in: "The mimic is a contradictory figure who simultaneously reinforces colonial authority and disturbs it".

Employees trust scale, position status, relationship, trustworthiness, confirmatory factor analysis
A The Employee Trust Scale is developed for a study that examines employees’ trust towards their supervisors. This 49-item measure is a newly created scale by the researchers based on the findings of their previous study “Exploring the Concept of Trust in Malaysia Society”. Through the result of exploratory factor analysis, Chua et al. (2015) was able to extract three factors, labeled ‘trustworthiness, ‘position status’and ‘relationship’ which accounted for 62.49% of the total variance and the scale provided reliable assessment. Considering the existing assumptions of three dimensions of employee trust toward their supervisor as established by Chua et al. (2015), in this paper, a confirmatory factor analysis was conducted to test the dimensionality of the Employee Trust Scale. This analysis was conducted with Structural Equation Modelling which was used to assess the fit of the model. In addition, reliability and validity of the model was measured. A total of 514 (274 males and 228 females) employees who were selected randomly from public and private organization sectors in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia were involved in this study. Their ages ranged from 21 to 59 years old with an average of 34.34 years old and their average tenure with their current organization was 8.46 years (with s.d. = 8.11 years). Finding of the present research can help in enhancing productivity within an organization by improving trust and relationship building between employees and employer.

Issues affecting the effectiveness of rehabilitation programme of the inmate, have important implications on the public safety after inmates are released from the prison. Many studies have been conducted on prisons environment effects, some investigating disciplinary methods and some exploring rehabilitation managements. Methodical evaluations of those studies, while varying greatly in exposure and method, display remarkable consistency in their overall findings. Administration and permissions, at best, show modest mean decreases in recidivism of inmate and, in some occurrences, have the differing effect and increase re-offense degrees. The way and manner recidivism effects found in studies of rehabilitation treatment, by comparison, are consistently positive and relatively large. There is, however, considerable inconsistency in those effects associated with the rehabilitation treatment, how well it is employed, and the nature of the inmates to whom it is applied. The specific sources of that inconsistency have not been well explored, but some principles for effective rehabilitation have emerged. The rehabilitation treatments generally found effective in research do not characterize existing practice of rehabilitation, and bridging the gap between research and practice residues noteworthy issues.

Immigrants Identity Crisis in The Lonely Londoners
Dizayi, Saman Abdulqadir Hussein
Literature Studies
Postcolonialism, Identity, Mimicry, Unhomed Condition, Homi Bhabha, Postcolonial Novel
This paper looks into the novel The Lonely Londoner by Samuel Selvon that is reviewed as a postcolonial novel. The paper examines the plight of the Caribbean migrants who traveled to England hoping that the fairytales they had been fed on by the colonizers were realistic and confined to England. The study considers the predicament that these migrants went through in their colonizer's homeland where they felt despised and derelict against their immense hope that they had when they were leaving their native islands. The paper also looks into the theme of mimicry as posted by Homi Bhabha in his postcolonial theory. By considering the view of Bhabha, the paper looks deeply into the theory advanced and how it is consequently used in the novel. Thus, the paper investigates how mimicry and hybridity have been portrayed in the novel The Lonely Londoner, and at the same time looks into how Samuel Selvon typically applied them to express his postcolonial discourse in his work.
